Tokaji aszú - Patricius Winery
The Patricius Winery cultivates its grapes in seven historical first class vineyards of Tokaj-Hegyalja. The centre of the estate was built in Bodrogkisfalud, in the Várhegy vineyard, with the reconstruction of an old wine-press house. An organic style, modern, gravitysystem winery is attached to this today. The uniqueness and quality of Patricius wines is proven by more than sixty gold medals won at major wine competitions worldwide. The winery greatly appreciates the traditions of the wine region. They continue the work started by their ancestors while making every effort to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Category-winner wine: Patricius Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2016
2016 was a memorable year in Tokaj-Hegyalja. The grape ripened beautifully and noble rotting started at the right moment. The aszú grapes grown on the volcanic soil, which is very rich in minerals, were soaked in fermenting must after careful selection and then gently pressed. Fermentation took 32 months in 220-litre oak barrels. Apricots, peach and tropical fruits are dominant in its aroma. Its taste is full, elegant and infinite. It is a long, nicely balanced and creamy wine with all the virtues of Tokaj.
